Native M2 comes with touch controls and futuristic looks, but it can’t dispense water when there is no electricity. On the other hand, the Native M1 is priced lower, has a tap-style design, and can dispense water even during power cuts.

The purification process and water taste are the same in both models. We find the water tastes similar to bottled mineral water, though taste is subjective. The best thing about Urban Company water purifiers is that they come with a two-year warranty and a ₹5,000 AMC for the next two years. Both the warranty and the AMC cover all filters, electrical parts, and service charges.
Reject water wastage is relatively high, and Urban Company’s service is available only in metro cities and some towns; in smaller towns they rely on third-party service providers, which is a major drawback.
Urban Company Water Purifier Advantages
- Design: Slim, sleek look with touch/tap control features makes it a modern kitchen’s best friend.
- Value for Money: Comes with a pre-filter and a two-year warranty, reducing service worries. AMC Cost for 2 Years is 5000 which is the best in Industry.
- Water Taste is excellent. Similar to Bottled Mineral Water
- Good Purification: Can Easily Work with all types of water sources having TDS levels up to 2000ppm.
Urban Company Water Purifier Disadvantages
- Electricity Dependency: Native M2 cannot dispense water during a power cut.
- Water Wastage: The Native M1 and M2 RO Purifiers waste a lot of water. If TDS levels are high, water wastage increases. This is common with most RO purifiers.
- Service: Urban Company’s Service is Excellent but it is limited to Cities and Some Towns.
Please note that UC Native M1 and M2 are RO water purifiers, and you generally need an RO purifier only when the TDS level in your water is above 300 ppm.
According to BIS and WHO, water with TDS below 300 ppm is considered excellent. Although there are exceptions, you may still need an RO even if the TDS is around 100 ppm when harmful contaminants such as fluoride, arsenic, mercury, or lead are present. Otherwise, a UV UF water purifier is enough for homes where TDS is less than 300 ppm.

Desgin
Urban Company vows to offer a no-fuss installation experience. Our device arrived from Amazon and was set up without any hiccups just 2 days post-delivery.
Both the Native M1 and M2 are compact RO water purifiers that look good in your kitchen. What we like most is the retractable tray for placing a bottle or glass, which makes dispensing water very easy.

The M2, with touch controls, lets you select modes (Bottle / Glass / Free Flow) and dispense water with a single touch. As mentioned earlier, you need to connect the M2 to your home inverter or a mini UPS (supplied by Urban Company) to use it during power cuts. The M1 also has the tray and is very easy to use thanks to its tap-style design.

The ring LED in both models looks attractive, and the M2 has a glowing blue LED that illuminates the dispensing water — it looks impressive in the dark. You can dispense water at night without turning on the main kitchen light or disturbing others.

The Native M2 also supports app connectivity via Wi-Fi. Install the Urban Company app on your smartphone, connect it to the M2, and you can monitor TDS levels, check filter life, and book service. Although the TDS readings are not always as accurate as a manual TDS meter, you don’t need to worry — TDS levels between 50 and 100 ppm are considered excellent.
Performance Review
Here, we debunk the hyped 10-stage water purification. The purifier features a Pre-filter, RO membrane, Pre-Carbon filter, Sediment filter, UV light, UF membrane, and 4-in-1 health booster filter. It’s not a notch different from other RO purifiers.

The 4-in-1 health booster adds small amounts of several beneficial minerals like calcium, magnesium, copper to the water to maintain the TDS levels and give it a mineral water-like taste.
The product is suitable for groundwater, borewell water, or any source with TDS up to 2000ppm.

Rapid Reverse Rinse Technology and Water Wastage

UC Native water purifiers have a unique technology that cleans the filters every time you dispense the water, this rapid reverse rinse cleaning keeps the filter clean and improves their life but the water wastage is on the higher side because of this. When you compare with HUL Pureit, Livpure and AO Smith, Urban Company water purifiers waste more water.
Customer Service Verdict

Urban Company’s service is excellent in major cities and many small towns. You can find the full list of serviceable areas on their About page. You can also install the Urban Company app on your smartphone and try booking a service to check availability. In smaller towns and villages, Urban Company depends on third-party service providers for installation and repairs; these third-party services are often not up to the mark. We therefore recommend the Urban Company water purifier only if Urban Company’s own service is available in your area.
Both the Native M1 and Native M2 are excellent RO water purifiers. The water tastes good, and the ₹5,000 AMC for two years is one of the best in the market, but service coverage is limited.
